French Police Enhance Security Measures for Crypto Entrepreneurs
The French government is taking significant steps to protect the nation’s crypto entrepreneurs amid rising security concerns.
Following a meeting led by Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau, crypto industry professionals will now have priority access to emergency police services.
Retailleau emphasized the need for enhanced security measures due to an alarming increase in kidnappings targeting individuals within the crypto sector.
These measures include access to elite police units, home security assessments, and rapid-response capabilities via an emergency police line.
The push for better security follows shocking incidents, such as an attempted kidnapping of a crypto exchange CEO's family in Paris.
The meeting also addressed concerns raised by the recent leak of Coinbase user data, which could potentially expose investors to criminal activities.
Éric Larchevêque, co-founder of Ledger, highlighted the seriousness of the situation, noting that there were 50 attacks on crypto specialists over the past year, with 14 occurring in France alone.
Given the growing threats, Retailleau's initiatives aim to deter future attacks and safeguard the crypto industry.
The government's proactive approach signals a recognition of the crypto sector's importance to the economy and the urgent need for applicable security strategies.
As the industry grows, the role of local authorities in providing security is becoming increasingly crucial.
